 Calories - Rich Healthy Food 

 Calories are the basic unit of energy used for measuring the energy in food and we all need a certain number of calories to maintain the body's vital functions. The number of calories a person depends on factors such as age, gender. 

Eating too few calories for a long period of time causes a person to become underweight leading to muscle atrophy, weakened immunity and eventually organ failure. Conversely, eating too many calories causes a person to become overweight then obesity, increasing their chances of Heart Disease, Diabetes, Cancer.

People nerve-racking to gain weight in the form of lean muscle, mass can aim to eat around 3000 calories per day. 


Examples of Calories - rich Foods

  • Proteins : Red meats, pork, chicken with skin on(roast or broil don't deep fry for your health) oily fish, beans, whole milk, eggs, cheese, yoghurt.
  • Carbohydrates : Sweet potatoes, brown rice,whole grain pasta, whole grains, whole grain bread, starch.
  • Fats : Nuts and nut butter, olives, walnuts, avocados, butter, peanut butter, salad garnishes, mayonnaise,high fat cheese.
The amount of energy in an item of food is measured in calories. When we eat more of calories than we use to, our bodies store the excess as body fat.
